The Treasures of Marrakech

The Ourika Valley is located 60 km from Marrakech. It is mainly populated by Berbers and gradually engulfed in the Moroccan High Atlas. It is still considered a relatively unspoilt valley. Its visit can combine the discovery of a spectacular nature and a traditional mountain life. Located just 80 km from Marrakech, the village of Setti Fatma, at the foot of the High Atlas, is the last Douar accessible by asphalt road. This small village is the starting point for many excursions into the surrounding mountains. . The most popular hiking and easiest route with suitable footwear is to trek along a mountain stream to find 7 waterfalls with a local guide as an optional extra.
Only 70 km from Marrakech, Imlil is the last step before the ascent to Mount Toubkal. Less than 2 hours from Marrakech, it enables you to leave the city in the morning, spend a wonderful day and be back at the riad by nightfall. This fortified city, which magnifies the white and blue, is rich in history. It is very pleasant to walk around, enjoy the sea air and sample the wonderful array of fish and seafood. It is also the favourite residence of many artists and musicians. Argan oil is also a specialty of Essaouira as it is the region where the trees are grown.
The Waterfalls of Ouzoud
Located 210 km from Marrakech, the Ouzoud waterfalls offer amazing scenery. These magnificent three tiered waterfalls are one of the most beautiful in the Middle Atlas. Waters flow into a limestone basin often creating stunning rainbows, surrounded by lush vegetation and inhabited by families of Barbary Monkeys. At the top of the waterfalls, you will find an old grain mill, still in use.
The fortified city of Aït Benhaddou is on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1987. It was nicknamed "the Mont Saint-Michel of Krauts" during the French protectorate. This pearl of Morocco is situated about 190 km from Marrakech. Composed of extraordinary beauty, this exceptional place was used as the setting for several legendary films and provides a striking example of the traditional architecture of southern Morocco. It is still inhabited by 8 or 9 Berber families and you are welcome to visit inside.
